Interior painting

Postwar and later housing with plasterboard walls and modern joinery. There is very little restoration here and a lot of straightforward repainting: rooms that have had the same colour for fifteen years and need bringing back. The job is coverage, clean lines and not getting it on the carpet.

uPVC spraying

This is the housing where uPVC spraying makes most sense. Estate houses fitted out in white uPVC in the nineties now have windows, doors and fascias that are sound but yellowed, and replacing them is many times the cost of recolouring them. Sprayed properly, with the right preparation and primer, it is a genuine alternative to replacement.

Exterior painting

Mostly rendered or part rendered semis and detached houses, with the render in reasonable condition and the question being colour rather than repair.

Fence and garden painting

Estate gardens with a lot of close board and panel fencing, which is the job people most often start themselves and most often do not finish.

Questions from Greasby

Is spraying uPVC actually worth it, or should I replace the windows?

If the frames and the units are sound and the problem is colour, spraying is a fraction of the cost of replacement and the result is a uniform finish. If the units are blown, the hinges have gone or there is water between the panes, you are spraying something that needs replacing and it is money in the wrong place.

How long does sprayed uPVC last?

It depends entirely on the preparation and on which way the surface faces, which is the honest version. A south facing door takes far more UV than a north facing window. Anyone giving you a flat number has not asked which elevation they are quoting for.

Other areas covered

Twelve towns across the peninsula. What decides a decorating job here is what the last coat was, how old it is and which way the wall faces, and that is genuinely different in Meols from how it is in Bebington.
