uPVC spraying
When recolouring beats replacing
A great deal of Wirral housing was fitted out in white uPVC in the nineties and two thousands, and a lot of those frames are now yellowed, chalky or simply the wrong colour for the house. The frames themselves are frequently fine. Replacing a window because of its colour is spending several thousand pounds to fix a surface problem.
Spraying is the alternative, and done properly it is a genuine one rather than a cheap trick. The surface is cleaned and degreased, abraded so there is a key, any seals and glass masked precisely, an adhesion primer designed for plastic applied, and the colour built in coats. The result is a uniform satin finish with no brush marks and no runs at the corners.
What decides it is the frames, not the colour. If the units are blown, the hinges have gone, the seals are failing or there is water sitting between the panes, you would be spraying something that needs replacing and the money is in the wrong place. We will look at that first and say so, because it is the question that matters. Often asked about alongside commercial painting, fence and garden painting and painting prices.
Get a price for the framesBlown units, failed hinges or perished seals mean replacement, not a respray. That gets checked before anything is quoted.
Degreasing, abrading and a primer made for plastic. Anything less and it peels at an edge within a year.
A south facing door takes far more UV than a north facing window, and that, not the product, is what decides how long it holds.
Done across Bromborough, Heswall, Hoylake, and everywhere else on the peninsula.

What this job looks like
The slots below are placeholders. The pictures elsewhere on this site are example images of the kind of work described, each one labelled as such, and they are not photographs of our own jobs. Nothing here is borrowed from anybody else's. Our own photographs go in as jobs are finished and customers are happy for us to use them.
Why people use us
What it is not
It is a coating on a sound frame, not a repair of a failing one, and we will tell you which yours needs.
- Frames, seals and units checked before a price is given
- Degreased and abraded, with an adhesion primer for plastic
- Glass, seals and brickwork masked precisely
- Built in coats rather than flooded, so there are no runs at corners
Frequently asked questions
uPVC spraying: the questions people ask
The ones that come up most. If yours is not here, ring and ask.
Is spraying uPVC worth it compared with new windows?
If the frames and units are sound and the problem is colour, it is a small fraction of the cost and the result is uniform. If the units are blown or the hardware has failed, you are coating something that needs replacing and the money is better spent on the windows.
How long does it last?
It depends on preparation and on which elevation it is, which is the honest answer. A south facing front door takes far more UV than a north facing window on the same house. Anybody quoting a flat number has not asked which one they are pricing.
Can you spray a conservatory?
Yes, inside and out, and it is a common job because a conservatory is usually the largest run of uPVC on a house. The masking is the bulk of it, because there is far more glass than frame.
Can I have any colour?
Effectively yes, matched to a standard colour reference. Worth knowing that very dark colours on a south facing elevation absorb a lot more heat, and on a large uPVC surface that is worth a conversation before you choose.
Done across Bromborough, Heswall, Hoylake, and everywhere else on the peninsula.
Send a photo of a frame and a corner
A close up of a corner and a seal tells us whether the frames are worth coating, which is the question that comes first.
About Wirral Painting
How the work is actually organised
Wirral Painting takes the job as main contractor and puts the labour on it. One person quotes it, one person is answerable for it, and you are not chasing three numbers to find out who is turning up on Tuesday.
It is worth saying plainly rather than implying a van and a family name. What you get is a written scope with the preparation itemised, a date, and somebody whose problem it is if the date moves.
What we will tell you we are not
Damp treatment, plastering and joinery are other trades. All three turn up constantly in decorating enquiries, because a decorator is usually the first person to see the problem.
A damp patch that keeps returning, a wall that needs replastering rather than filling, a rotten cill under a window you want painted: we will tell you that is what you are looking at rather than put a coat over it and take the money.
No photographs of our work, and why the site says so
There are no job photographs on this site. The slots are placeholders and they are labelled as placeholders. Nothing here is a stock picture presented as a job and nothing is borrowed from another company.
Real photographs go in as jobs are finished and customers are happy for us to use them, and not before. The same goes for anything that looks like a customer quote. There is a section built and ready for them, switched off, and it stays that way until there are real ones with permission attached.
