Spray painting
When spraying is worth it, and when it is not
Spraying gives a finish a brush cannot: no brush marks, no roller stipple, an even film over mouldings and profiles, and a hard surface on things that get handled. On kitchen doors, uPVC frames, panel doors and shopfronts that difference is visible from across the room and it is why people ask for it.
What it costs is not the spraying. It is the masking. A sprayed surface means everything within reach of the mist has to be covered, and in a kitchen that is the worktops, the floor, the appliances, the walls, the ceiling and anything on them. A full day of masking for an afternoon of spraying is normal and it is the honest shape of the job.
So spraying suits defined pieces rather than whole rooms of ordinary walls. Kitchen doors, frames, windows, a staircase balustrade, a shopfront. For a plain wall a roller is quicker, cheaper and looks the same, and we will say so rather than sell you the more impressive method. Often asked about alongside kitchen respray, upvc spraying and commercial painting.
Talk about a sprayed finishEverything within reach of the mist gets covered. A day of masking for an afternoon of spraying is the normal shape of it.
Degreasing, keying and the right primer. On a surface that was never meant to be painted, that is the whole difference.
A plain wall is quicker and cheaper with a roller and looks the same. We will tell you when that is the answer.

What this job looks like
The slots below are placeholders. The pictures elsewhere on this site are example images of the kind of work described, each one labelled as such, and they are not photographs of our own jobs. Nothing here is borrowed from anybody else's. Our own photographs go in as jobs are finished and customers are happy for us to use them.
Why people use us
What a sprayed finish actually gives you
An even film with no applicator marks, over profiles and mouldings a brush cannot do evenly.
- Everything within reach of the mist masked before any primer
- Surfaces degreased and keyed, not just wiped
- Primer chosen for the substrate rather than a universal one
- Finish coats built up rather than flooded on
Frequently asked questions
Spray painting: the questions people ask
The ones that come up most. If yours is not here, ring and ask.
Is spraying better than brushing?
For profiles, mouldings, frames and anything handled daily, yes, visibly. For a plain wall, no: a roller is faster, cheaper and the finished result is the same. The honest answer depends on the surface.
Why does spraying cost more if it is quicker?
Because the spraying is the quick part and the masking is not. Everything the mist can reach has to be covered and then uncovered, and that is usually longer than the painting.
Will the overspray get everywhere?
Not if the masking is done properly, which is exactly why it takes as long as it does. A job quoted with very little masking time is a job where it will.
Can you spray in my house while we live in it?
Usually yes, with the area sealed off and low odour materials. It does mean a room or a kitchen is out of use for the duration rather than available in the evenings, and that is worth planning round.

About Wirral Painting
How the work is actually organised
Wirral Painting takes the job as main contractor and puts the labour on it. One person quotes it, one person is answerable for it, and you are not chasing three numbers to find out who is turning up on Tuesday.
It is worth saying plainly rather than implying a van and a family name. What you get is a written scope with the preparation itemised, a date, and somebody whose problem it is if the date moves.
What we will tell you we are not
Damp treatment, plastering and joinery are other trades. All three turn up constantly in decorating enquiries, because a decorator is usually the first person to see the problem.
A damp patch that keeps returning, a wall that needs replastering rather than filling, a rotten cill under a window you want painted: we will tell you that is what you are looking at rather than put a coat over it and take the money.
No photographs of our work, and why the site says so
There are no job photographs on this site. The slots are placeholders and they are labelled as placeholders. Nothing here is a stock picture presented as a job and nothing is borrowed from another company.
Real photographs go in as jobs are finished and customers are happy for us to use them, and not before. The same goes for anything that looks like a customer quote. There is a section built and ready for them, switched off, and it stays that way until there are real ones with permission attached.
